    Extracting and Visualizing Data from Mobile and Static Eye Trackers in R and Matlab

    Eye tracking is the process of measuring where people are looking at with an eye tracker device. Eye tracking has been used in many scientific fields, such as education, usability research, sports, psychology, and marketing. Eye tracking data are often obtained from a static eye tracker or are manually extracted from a mobile eye tracker. Visualization usually plays an important role in the analysis of eye tracking data. So far, there existed no software package that contains a whole collection of eye tracking data processing and visualization tools. In this dissertation, we review the eye tracking technology, the eye tracking techniques, the existing software related to eye tracking, and the research on eye tracking for posters and related media. We then discuss the three main goals we have achieved in this dissertation: (i) development of a Matlab toolbox for automatically extracting mobile eye tracking data; (ii) development of the linked microposter plots family as new means for the visualization of eye tracking data; (iii) development of an R package for automatically extracting and visualizing data from mobile and static eye trackers

    Probability Estimation in Random Forests

    Random Forests is a useful ensemble approach that provides accurate predictions for classification, regression and many different machine learning problems. Classification has been a very useful and popular application for Random Forests. However, it is preferable to have the probability of a membership rather than the simple knowledge that one belongs to whichever group. Votes and the regression method are current probability estimation methods that have been developed in Random Forests. In this thesis, we introduce two new methods, proximity weighting and the out-of-bag method, trying to improve the current methods. Several different simulations are designed to evaluate the new methods and compare them with the old ones. Finally, we use real data sets from UCI machine learning repository to further evaluate and compare those methods

    AbstractThe enhancing heat transfer mechanism of the transversally corrugated tube,converged-diverging tube and corrugated tube compared with that of the smooth tube was studied in this paper. Here heat transfer models were established with water as the medium of the enhanced heat transfer tubes .We used simplec methods and the standard k- Ι› turbulence model in Fluent and analyzed the impact of different tube structure on heat transfer tubes, finally, achieved visualization of flow field in enhanced heat transfer tubes. it can been concluded from the figures that: within the scope of this study, the order of three tubes according to the merits is transversally corrugated tube, convergeddiverging tube and corrugated tube

    Effects of urban green belts on the air temperature, humidity and air quality

    As urbanization increases, designing green space that offers ecological benefits is an increasingly important goal of urban planning. As a linear green space in an urban environment, green belts lower air temperature, increase relative humidity, and improve air quality. To quantify the ecological effects of urban green belts and to identify a critical width for effective urban green belts, we analysed the width of urban green belts in terms of their effects on air temperature (T), relative humidity (RH), concentration of negative air ions (NAI) and bacteria rate (BR). The air T, RH and NAI from 8:00 to 18:00 and BR at 9:00 over seven days were investigated on six widths of green belts (0–10 m, 10–20 m, 20–30 m, 30–40 m, 40–50 m and over 50 m) along the west Fourth Ring Road of Beijing in April, July, October and December 2009. We found that (1) the T-RH benefits increased with the width of the green belts, and the 6 m belt had the smallest effect on T-RH, followed by the 16 m and 27 m belts, whereas the effect was obvious with the 34 m belt and conspicuous and stable with the 42 m belt (approximately 80% green coverage) (P < 0.05); (2) the critical width reference value of urban green belts for an obvious effect on the increase in NAI concentration was approximately 42 m (approximately 80% green coverage) (P < 0.05) and the NAI concentration increased with the width of green belts even in July; and (3) the positive effect on the decrease in the BR was greater than the negative effect, the BR decreased with the green belt width and the changes in the brs were stable with the 34 m belt. The results of this study may help urban planners and designers achieve urban green space designs that optimize ecological effects and cultural benefits

    With widely usingof computer and mobile devices available, people share information more frequently on the online social network (OSN) than before, so information spread faster and wider, especially misinformation andrumors. Rumors on the OSN often make E-commerce companiessuffermuch financial losses.Once there is a rumor, the companies always try to control the rumor propagating so that they suffer the least loss by using a certain budget. In this paper,an effective method on information blocking maximization with cost budget (CIBM) is proposed to solve rumor containment problem with cost budget in e-commerce environment. First, CIBM is proved as NP-hardproblem withthe characteristic of sub-modular and monotone.Then a community dividing algorithm based community structure is presented to optimize containment of the rumors. To verify our proposed method, a lot of experiments are conducted on real dataset and random generated datasets. And the experiment results show that our algorithm has advantage over traditional methods

    StoryDroid: Automated Generation of Storyboard for Android Apps

    Mobile apps are now ubiquitous. Before developing a new app, the development team usually endeavors painstaking efforts to review many existing apps with similar purposes. The review process is crucial in the sense that it reduces market risks and provides inspiration for app development. However, manual exploration of hundreds of existing apps by different roles (e.g., product manager, UI/UX designer, developer) in a development team can be ineffective. For example, it is difficult to completely explore all the functionalities of the app in a short period of time. Inspired by the conception of storyboard in movie production, we propose a system, StoryDroid, to automatically generate the storyboard for Android apps, and assist different roles to review apps efficiently. Specifically, StoryDroid extracts the activity transition graph and leverages static analysis techniques to render UI pages to visualize the storyboard with the rendered pages. The mapping relations between UI pages and the corresponding implementation code (e.g., layout code, activity code, and method hierarchy) are also provided to users. Our comprehensive experiments unveil that StoryDroid is effective and indeed useful to assist app development. The outputs of StoryDroid enable several potential applications, such as the recommendation of UI design and layout code
